Lanita Lloyd accepted the position as manager of Cobb County’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) in July 2003, and was appointed Deputy Director in October, 2004. Her past experience includes nineteen years with the State of Georgia. She worked in the areas of communication, licensing, and aviation, and served as a Planner for the Georgia State Patrol’s Director. Education and preparedness of the Cobb community are considered her top priorities, and under her direction, Cobb County’s CERT program has grown to become a model program for the state of Georgia and beyond. As of May 2008, the CERT program has 700 volunteer members, the largest number of volunteers in the state.

Lanita obtained her State Certified Emergency Management Certification in 2004, the Georgia Master Manager Certification in 2008, and the recognition as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) in 2007.
